Have a book you’re looking to have formatted before publishing, but don’t have the software (or time)? Let me help you! Using a Mac software called Vellum, I can format your book in both eBook and print format. Vellum offers multiple styles to choose from, with different fonts, chapter heading styles, and even custom image options for chapter headings. eBook files are available in standard ePub platforms such as Kindle, Kobo, etc, and paperback files are generated into a PDF.
*Please note: Vellum is intended for formatting novels, and not for things such as children’s books with lots of illustrations. Additionally, there are only specific fonts that Vellum comes with for print books. For more info, check out Vellum’s information page about it here.
Vellum does allow custom chapter heading images. There are three different size options, so this is something we will need to discuss so that you can make sure your images are the right size before sending them to me.
When determining a deadline to have the finalized formatting done by, my suggestion would be to have it be at least three weeks before your book’s publication date, in order to make room for any revisions or hold ups that may come up.

The above are the print trim options that Vellum provides. Please make sure to specify what size your book will need to be when contacting me if you need a print format.
How It Works
- Fill out the contact form with all of the information. I will contact you via e-mail within a few days to talk to you about the project, determine whether it sounds doable, and to discuss a deadline and any further details.
- I will send you the contract. Once you have filled out and signed it, I will send you a PayPal (which charges a fee of $2.24) invoice for $50.00 USD (non-refundable). Any files should be uploaded to the Google drive folder I’ll create for you by the agreed upon date. I will send you a checklist including all of the information and files I will need (author bio, dedication, book cover, etc), as well as a Google form. The Google form needs to be filled out before I begin formatting.
- I will create a Google drive folder for you to upload all necessary documents, images, and front/back matter information into by the agreed upon date. Once you send me these files, I will go through the doc and make sure everything looks okay before importing into Vellum. I will also make sure the images will work with Vellum’s required size, and notify you if they do not so you can make any necessary adjustments.
Please note: Vellum sometimes imports Word documents with images already in them in a funky way. To make it easier for both you and me, the Word document you send must not have ANY images in it. All images will need to be uploaded into the Google drive folder separately. - Depending on the size of the book, what needs to be included, and anything I might run into, turn-around time should be within a week or so unless otherwise noted due to any constraints on my end. If there are any issues with images or anything else, this may take longer, and I will make sure to contact you.
- Once I’ve finished formatting, I will send you a PDF version of the book for you to look over within five days from when it’s sent (unless otherwise agreed upon), to make sure it looks good and there are no errors that need to be fixed. Once you have given the okay, I will send you another PayPal invoice for the remaining amount owed ($50.00 USD + hourly rate). I will then compile the final eBook and/or paperback files and send them to you through a zipped folder.
Pricing
There are a lot of factors that go into formatting a book — how large the project is (word count), deadlines, any images that need to be added in, any errors that need to be fixed before importing into Vellum, what files you need (eBook and/or paperback) etc. To start off, I charge $100 USD as the base price, and anything after that is based on an hourly rate, with the first $50.00 from the base price as a deposit.
Base Price — $100.00 USD (total for one individual eBook and one individual paperback. If you need more than one book formatted (i.e. if you have a trilogy of books needing formatting), please let me know.
Hourly rate — $15.00/hour USD
Revisions* — up to three free; after that, $15.00/hour USD
Updates and/or File Requests — $15.00/hour USD
*Revisions are defined as any major fixes that need to be made, as well as things like updating the cover art, front/back matter, etc
